Unless otherwise noted, prices for seniors are 65 and older and children are 17 and younger. On occasion, a show will have “student” pricing which includes any student currently enrolled in an educational institution, with a valid student ID. Children younger than two who will sit on a lap do not need a ticket. Two gender-specific restrooms (i.e. Men’s and Women’s) may be accessed from the LOH lobby.

The doors to the theater usually open 30 minutes before showtime. In the case of General Admission shows, be aware that there may be a line forming up to one hour before a show in the lobby. The box office is open from noon to 5pm Monday through Friday, and our lobby Box Office Station opens one hour before the scheduled show time. The Box Office Station is open through the first intermission, and we ask that purchases for other shows take place during that intermission. Additional accessible seating may be available upon request at the time of ticket purchase.

I ordered tickets online but I did not see an option to have my tickets mailed to me. When you successfully complete an online ticket purchase a confirmation number is displayed in the order window. If you don’t see this when ordering then your purchase has not been completed. LOH does not allow flash photography as it can be distracting to other patrons. The individual artists often have their own policies, but many allow non-flash photography with personal use cameras and prohibit video recording. More restrictive photo policies will be posted and announced at the show.

This entrance is unlocked one hour prior to performance time. The $3.4 million renovation builds upon the art deco aesthetic of the space, located on the second floor of Lebanon City Hall, just over the New Hampshire border. Upgrades include LED stage lighting, new dressing rooms, plywood subfloor and carpeting, roomier theater seats with cupholders, fresh paint, and custom chandeliers. The public can see the updated venue at a free housewarming party on Wednesday, February 7, complete with a cash bar, DJ and dancing. The opera house has raised about $3.8 million so far, according to Clifford.
The lobby, box office, rest rooms and orchestra level of the theater are accessible by elevator, which is located through the City Office entrance on the on the east side of the building. We have two dedicated wheelchair seats in the orchestra section, each with companion seats. In addition to the wheelchair seats we also have 8 seats at the end of selected rows with arm rests that fold up for those with limited mobility. The lobby, box office, restrooms, and orchestra level of the theater are accessible by elevator, which is located through the City Office entrance on the on the east side of the building.
Local non-profit organizations often sell light snacks/desserts and non-alcoholic beverages in the lobby before a show and during intermission. Food or drink (except water) are not allowed in the theater so all refreshments must be consumed in the lobby. Because LOH is located in a municipal building, no alcohol is allowed on the premises. If you bring your ID to box office, we can almost always re-print your tickets. When possible, the inclusion of an opening act will be announced ahead of time, however artists will sometimes bring a surprise opener with them.
Very rarely, LOH will authorize the sale of tickets for less than face value through third party vendors. LOH has the right to cancel ticket transactions that are suspected of being purchased for the sole purpose of reselling (scalping). A temporary passenger loading area is available for drop-off and pick-up with a direct, no-elevation entrance into LOH. It is located in the front of the theater with accessible entry through the City Hall Main Entrance on the east side of the building. The Lebanon Opera House has new merchandise in conjunction with the completion of their renovation. May not be reprinted or used online without permission.
The plan to repair the music hall’s plasterwork, repaint it and carry out other repairs, including a replacement of the stage floor, was underway before she took the Chandler job. All told, the work is expected to cost around $175,000, all of it coming from grants and donations, including funding from the Vermont Arts Council and the Vermont Preservation Trust. The construction work was budgeted at $3.1 million and is on time and within budget, Clifford said. The nonprofit that leases the opera house from the city of Lebanon is raising all of the construction funding through private grants and donations. About $3.8 million of the $4.2 million goal has been raised so far, Clifford said. The remaining money left to raise will pay for sound equipment the opera house can use for community events around the city.
From Rt. 91 North (Vermont)Go past Exit 1 and pick up exit to I-89 South. From the NorthTake I-89 to exit 18, make a right from the exit ramp and go a short distance to the stop sign. Restrooms are available, many artists provide merchandise for sale, and often we invite local nonprofits to provide light refreshments and to meet our audience. If you are planning on dining out before the show, there are several nearby restaurants within walking distance. Among the many art shows opening or on display Friday night in White River Junction is a show of paintings by White River Junction artist Bradley William Mehr at the Main Street Museum.
It was converted into a movie theater in 1951, closed in 1969 and reopened in 1975 with a remodel that could accommodate live performances. In 1991, the City of Lebanon established a nonprofit to take over management of the facility. Ten years later, the theater was again remodeled with the installation of a freight elevator and expansion of backstage and green rooms.
Biking from the South is possible for advanced cyclists via Rt. 120. Doors usually open 30 minutes before show time and we recommend arriving in Lebanon at least 45 minutes before the start of a show. For most shows, late patrons will wait outside the theater with an usher before being escorted into the theater during a suitable pause. This allows us to minimize the disturbance to the artists and patrons.
The Vermont Mandolin Trio performs Saturday night at 7 at Seven Stars Arts Center in Sharon. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door; children under 12 get in free. A pair of the most venerable and active Upper Valley performance venues, Lebanon Opera House and Randolph’s Chandler Music Hall, are reopening in the next week after renovations. The Lebanon Opera House will start hosting events right away, with plans to show a classic Charlie Chaplin film Thursday night before some live comedy and music this weekend.
For young children, please be aware that many events at LOH are loud (85dBA+); feel free to bring protective headphones for your child or use your hands to cover their ears. Certain shows may have age restrictions but that will be evident on the event sales page online. This private, single-stall restroom is available for use by anyone. Find it on Level 1 where the City of Lebanon meeting rooms are located. The opera house is the same, in most respects, as it was when it opened in 1924, but the renovation will make it seem “new and fresh” to patrons, Clifford said. The upgrades include new seats and lighting, marking the opera house's 100th anniversary.
